With support from Horizon Europe, a consortium of 32 partners has started work on developing circular system-level solutions for water management, bio-waste and food packaging.
Horizon Europe is the European Union's framework programme for research and innovation, which aims to support research and innovation from idea to market application, complementing national and regional funding.
With the programme's contribution, a consortium of 32 partners launched in June to work together on Circular Systemic Solutions in the fields of water management, bio-waste and food packaging. The CCRI (Circular Cities and Regions Initiative), an initiative of the European Commission, is the project's main sponsor.
CCRI was launched by DG Research and Innovation as part of the EU 2020 Circular Economy Action Plan.
The so-called CircSyst solutions for water management, bio-waste from wastewater treatment plants and the food industry, and packaging waste will be implemented by 2026.
The project launch event took place in Valencia, Spain, in early June.
